Butterfly Talk

Hello again,

I thought I would share this with you, as in my last post I talked about butterflies.. well I made a card to go with them, and didn't think I had taken a pic, but going through the camera I spotted one or two..so I have just got them onto the PC so I can show you.

It is a Thankyou card, in lilac as the Mum in Law loves cards in shades of Lilac, as you can see it has two of my butterlies on... I added a shiny silver to underneath and the pale lilac onto the top, the top one I moved up about 2mm so you could see the silver through.

How its made... well most of my cards if you have noticed are half A4, I punched the corners with a punch and then also the backing paper, which is a freebee from my monthly magazine. I glued it into the middle then added silver peel offs as a border. I then cut light and dark card to size and once again punched the corners so it matches, the greeting I took out of a magazine to match the backing paper.

The decoupage came with a set of about 50 that I ordered from a shop that can deliver over here in Portugal, The Art Of Craft Ltd. I then attached everything using 2mm sticky pads, apart from the butterflies, I attached them using double sided tape as I wanted them close together. I was very pleased with the end result, and my Mum in Law loved the card and loved the butterflies also.

My New Machine

< ------ LOOK

Well I am Happy and content, as I got a new embossing and cutting machine for Christmas,  It is a  Joycrafts, Trouvaille.
It does A4 paper, although I don't have any embossing folders that are A4 but am sure I will purchase some very soon, it works with all dies and embossing folders, and is really nice.

It came with plates that are marked so it is so easy to use. I spent most of Boxing Day playing with the Dies that I recieved as presents. I made a lot butterflies to post to the UK, to my Mother in Law, who is a card fanatic, and is very good. She recieved them yesterday and already has cards for them to go onto... so I will have to send some more when I get chance to do them.
Any questions about the machine just ask, and I will try to help.

Hello Kitty Christmas

These cards were made for friends, who like Hello Kitty, I must admit it took a while to even find a picture of Hello Kitty that I could use. So they both have the same topper on, I just had to design the card different for each.
This one I used hearts backing paper from corner to corner and added a strip of red paper along the edge, I then attatched the greeting in Portuguese to red card and then onto the top right, the hello kitty I put onto red card also, and made it into a three tier decoupage, then I punched out red snowflakes and added to the top .. very simple card.

This card I treid to make look a bit more girly by using different backing paper, I decided to add two Hello Kitty toppers one was plan and one I added glitter to the snowflake on her hat, both were just two tier decoupage.

Christmas card time

Hello there, how time flies, I have been so busy with everyday life, that I have had no time to get on here and publish the Christmas Cards I said I would show you... So I have half an hour before I pick my daughter up from school, so here goes.. the card on the left was a quick make card, I found the image on Google, I love blue nosed bear, but they don't sell anything over here in Portugal to do with him, so I printed it out three times and made it into decoupage, I folded A4 in half to make the card and then added vellum from a magazine as the main paper, to attatch the vellum I used brads, as I never seem to get it to glue nicely, and have found brads work best..I then added green, pink card on top using 2mm sticky pads, then went the bottom layer of the decoupage, then the two top layers I had cut out...all was left to do was to add the insert, which I left blank as I like to handwrite my inserts.

I have also made this card in reds, and golds.

This card I got the idea of making my own pattern for sewing, I did have a pattern very similar to this in a book, but it was way to small for what I wanted to do, so I made this on Microsoft Excel, just by adding the dots were needed, I then printed it out and pricked onto white card stock, sewed it  in a Christmas Green, I did use DMC thread as it is slightly thicker and looks nice to cross stitch type sewing.I then made the Christmas tree.. which is very easy to make, I will add a how to later on.. I used A4 card folded in half, with the corners cut out, i then added Green card doing the same in the corners then added the sewing on top, once the corners were cut. The christmas tree i glues using hot melt glue and added a small brown piece of card to act like the tree trunk. The papers I used for the tree came from a magazine.

The sewing for this card took me about six hours.
Here is another one I enjoyed making, Again it is a sewing card with a topper added..  Here is how I made it, I first pricked and sewed the pattern onto Green card using matalic coloured threads, the pattern comes from Stitching cards, a site you can download straight to your PC, I then used a compass and drew round the design and cut it out, the card is made from A4 again folded in half, the backing paper from a Magazine, I attached the sewing using 2mm sticky pads then chose the Father Christmas from my Magazine and cut him out so he was round also, because he is on paper I glued him onto card first to make him more sturdy. I then attatched him using 2mm sticky pads. I did start with the card completely square but then decided it would look better rounded at the top and the bottom so cut it free hand, which is not something I would normally do but the result was ok, I then used gold peel offs all the way round the card and the topper to add shine, and FELIZ NATAL..which Happy Christmas in Portuguese.

One more to show today..
This card I made in half an hour..it was easy to make.
This one is very easy to make as it is just a layered card, I used an image from a magazine and also the papers. The card is once again A4 folded in half but I did landscape this time.I covered the front of the card with backing paper. The first layer is shiny blue card with a layer of backing paper on the top, I did attach using sticky pads as the glue I used first off did not stick it.. I then attached four peices of silver ribbon to make it look like it was wrapped... then I used more shiny blue card with the topper on the top, I made the top layer of shiny card wider as I wanted to add the greeting both sides. You can not tell on the picture but the snow is glittery also...

I hope you liked these cards... I will add some more for you to look at.. and I will also add some pics on how to make the Christmas Tree...

Chitter Chatter

Right then I have now ran out of time, so I will add some more tomorrow. I have quiet a few Christmas cards to show that I made using different techniques, including sewing, decoupage and just layering..
I also have a card to make for a new baby, a family member is due early february, she has been told it is going to be a boy,  so I have that to make, I have lots of ideas so watch this space...
Talk to you again very soon x

Wedding Day

Now then... tis me again, playing catch up on here, putting some cards on that I made in December, I had an order for a Wedding card, As you know I live in Portugal, and they don't sell Cards, so I was asked to make one. She wanted funny, but I wasn't sure on what she thought would be funny, As some things I may find funny she may find offensive.. so I decided to make a cute wedding day card... and hope this was ok.. if not then I would make a funny card. I went onto Google and found a site called DIGI WED STUDIO, were you order and download clipart... they have some really amazing designs, I have to admit I ordered quiet a lot for future use, which you will see as I make the cards. This card is made from a set called Wedding Day by Whimsy Pimsy
I will do my best to talk you through the stages.

The card is half A4 but folded into a Gatefold card. The back of the card I wanted the car, as I wanted it to look like they were driving away... This took me some time to do...as I wanted it central but printed straight onto the card, I also added my email address for future orders.Highlighting it with straight peel offs. I then printed out backing papers and attatched to the front adding peels offs as a boarder, The bride and groom I just Printed, cut out and attatched using sticky pads, The bride is quiet wide so I placed the groom further over on his side, so when the card is shut the bride does not cover the groom.I also printed the church straight onto the card also, but then printed a second one onto card so I could cut it out as I wanted the windows to look like windows, I added a cross brad to the church and also cut out the door so that she could write her msg inside, also on the inside I added toppers, one is the wedding cake and the other is the flowers, on the flowers I added ribbon with a bow, I stuck these on with sticky pads so they were not flat on the card, making them stand out a little, I then added peel off sentiments under each...

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card, and was very pleased when the person I made it for liked it too,, and I have also been told the Bride and Groom were impressed also. I hope you like it...
This is the front of the card

This the the back of the card with my email address.

Princess Fan Card

I forgot to say "Happy New Year to All "

I have been busy over the break with Family so not really done much crafting, Although Santa was very good this year and he brought me a Joy Crafts Cutting and Embossing machine, which will take A4.. and I have to say I am very pleased with the results so far.. so will be adding some pics of it later, and showing off a couple of things I have been doing.

Onto the card below, I made this in early December, for My daughters friend who has her Birthday on Boxing Day.. Like most girls of 7,8,9 she loves anything Princess.. so I decided to use my boards and make a fan card.. I made it using white card so that the Princess fan would stand out more, and then I could add to it to make it more GIRLY.. I used pink flowers and ribbbon, and silver peels offs. The main flower at the bottom of the fan is fron Early Learning Centre, although I bought it some time ago, and not sure if they still sell them.
Here is the finished card,

The Fan card with a Box for it to go into.. I used the same picture on the box as on the fan card.

Butterfly Birthday Card

Above are the elements I have ready to make the card... It is a birthday card for a aunt in the UK. I have already cut the decoupage out and I have pricked and embroidered onto plain white card.

This is the decoupage, I am sorry but I can not remember where I bought this from.

I have used a 15cm square basic card, then I added a 14ch square of pale yellow card using 2mm sticky pads. As you can see the decoupage is waiting to be added to the middle..to make sure I get it in the centre I usually measure and mark the centre of the card ,then I measure the first layer of the decoupage and make a hole with my pricking tool (you wont see this as the layers above will hide it) then when am ready to attatch I remove tape from pads and put it onto my pricking tool and put the point of the pricking tool onto the dot I marked on the centre of the card...and then it is just a case of making sure it is the way you want it.

Here it is finished... it took me ten minutes to put it together..
