I can show you a special card now...

That the person in question has received it,
opened it and sent me an email.
WARNING... Long post..grab a cuppa
I made a card last week for Paul's mum
Sadly Paul's dad passed away in 2003
At Christmas and he is missed lots
But on the 15th it would have been their
55th wedding anniversary
So to let Paul's mum know we we're thinking of her
We made a card
I have put WE as I made the card
but Paul thought of the verse.
Paul is rather good at verses
I have cried when receiving my birthday cards
a couple of times.
I made a book easel card
I bought the template from
Clipart Fairy blog
They have some amazing designs
I did spend some time re sizing and adding the picture
Then using my machine to die cut all the parts for the flowers
Also after cutting out the parts I applied glitter round the edges of the top two pages to make them stand out a little and to make it look prettier
here it is

As you can see I put a picture on of the day they got married
55 years ago
I did change the picture as it was in black and white
and I adjusted it to a brown colour
so it would match the rest of the card

on the left is the amazing verse written by Paul

As you can see I printed the verse onto thick paper
in brown font and attached it to the bottom of the card
the reason being is the font on the actual book easel card was fairly small

This is the verse

Mum, just a card to remember Dad
A father and husband we all once had
Thinking of you on this memorable day
Of you and Dad in our thoughts will stay
To say we miss him as am sure you do
Is an understatement, but one that’s true
Our lives go on and time passes by
But Dad is still with us and I’ll tell you why
We think about him every day
He’s in our hearts and minds and when we pray
He hears our thoughts and love transcended
Knowing that life has never really ended
So here’s to you both on this day we remember
Your Anniversary – fifteenth September

how bad am I.. reading this back made my eyes water.

I also made a simple box for it to go into you can see it here with the card
I added flowers to match the card and then peel off's
The email we received was lovely
Paul's mum loved the card and reading the verse made her cry
for both happy and sad reason's
and she thanked us for remembering
Which makes making this card so worth it
I wasn't going to enter this into any challenges
but Paul said why not !!!
so here they are

So very lovely.
I lost my husband, mother, and my Son in laws Dad and 2 baby g/sons all over 2 years, and everytime you read something like this it makes you think of your own.
Very beautiful.

What a beautiful card and box and poem! I saw this on MIM and was unsure what it was but I love old photos. I always look at the newspaper to see who is celebrating anniversaries. In this day and age of negative news and lost love etc...it is so wonderful to know how specialit is to have a love for so long. She is lucky and she will always know what true love means and the effort you put into your card and everything combined just cements the deal:)

Claire, I saw your entry on Make it Monday and was drawn by the little example so decided to check it out. Imagine my surprise to find something even more wonderful here. You and your husband have created and given something beautiful to your Mother-in-Law. This is more than a gift this is a treasure. This made my eyes misty too.
